Glazed Caramel Party Snack
Dec 02, 2024Here's what you need:
- 3 sticks of unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup light Karo syrup
- 3 cups brown sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. cinnamon
- 3/4 tsp. baking soda
- 3/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 5 1/2 cups any chex cereal
- 5 1/2 cups Chocolate chex
- 2 cups pretzels, broken into pieces
- 2 cups roasted peanuts
- 1 1/2 cups walnuts
- 1 1/2 cups pecans
Preheat your oven to 275F.
Add your cereals, pretzels, and nuts to a very large bowl and mix to combine well. Set aside.
In a large saucepan, melt your butter over medium heat and add the brown sugar, salt and Karo syrup. Stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved and the caramel is starting to simmer. When it starts to simmer, set a timer for 5 minutes and stir occasionally.
After 5 minutes, remove from the heat and stir in the cinnamon, ground cloves, and baking soda. Stir to combine well. The mixture will foam up and become lighter in color. Immediately pour over the cereal and nut mixture and stir to coat everything well in the caramel.
Pour out onto three, lightly greased, baking sheets and spread out. Bake for 1 hour in your preheated oven, giving it a stir every 15 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. The party mix will get crunchy as it cools. Enjoy!
NOTE**:
1. Store in an airtight container, if you aren't eating them right away. I promise it won't last long though! :)
2. You can omit the spices if you don't want to use them.
3. This will make a LOT of party mix. You can half the recipe for a smaller portion.
4. This is PERFECT for gifting at the holidays for neighbors and co-workers. Bag it up with a bow or use the little cookie boxes I mentioned in the video. Everyone LOVES receiving it! Here's the affiliate link to the cookie boxes on Amazon: https://amzn.to/4eYNbPQ
