Classic Banana Pudding
Sep 17, 2024Here's what you need:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 5 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
- 4 cups milk
- 4 egg yolks, beaten
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 - 15 oz. box of Nilla Wafers (can use Chessman Cookies also)
- 4 small to medium bananas (or as many as you like!)
Add your sugar and flour to a heavy saucepan. Whisk together to break up any lumps in the flour. Add your milk and mix well to combine and dissolve the sugar. Cook over medium-high heat just until the milk starts to steam. Dip out about 3/4 cup and slowly pour it into the beaten eggs, stirring constantly. Now add the egg mixture back to the saucepan, slowly, while stirring.
Continue to cook, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full rolling boil. When it reaches a full rolling boil, remove from heat and add in vanilla. Stir to combine.
Line the bottom and up the sides of a large bowl with your cookies. Slice bananas over the top of the cookies. Pour enough of the pudding in to cover the bananas. Continue to layer cookies, bananas and pudding, ending with the pudding. You should have a few cookies left to crush and sprinkle over the top, if you want. Enjoy!
